If one wishes to travel from this industrial area to the central business district of Johannesburg it is around 40 minutes travel time and is around 30 to 40 km in distance.

The suburb has numerous smaller owned shops and markets. The Kya Sand region has a huge variety of places in which to shop, some of the more popular shopping facilities include Kya Cross Centre, Jura Shopping Centre, Boundary Corner and Cosmo Mall. 

Transport

The Kya Sand expanse has numerous municipal buses that service the region as well as the extensive minivan service that runs throughout all the epicentres of the country including the industrial area of Kya Sand. Alternatively one can also use private transportation or metered taxis to get around or to Kya Sand. The entire Gauteng expanse is always looking for ways in which to improve transportation, one of those was the implementation of the Gautrain around 2010, Kya Sand doesn't have a Gautrain as yet.
